TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

Hello, I'm Quanisha, a full-spectrum doula providing support from fertility to postpartum. I am also a certified Infant and Family Sleep Specialist, doula instructor, and licensed massage therapist. I moved to San Antonio in 2018 with my fiance and hit the ground running to my dream of becoming a doula.  I have been a trained doula since 2019 and have worked in childcare since I was 18.  I am a lover of creative writing, horror movies, and podcasts.

HOW DID YOU COME TO DOULA WORK?

There were little nuggets in my life that led me to the work I do with parents and infants.  A few notable ones were hearing the word ‘doula’ for the first time while I was in school for massage by my instructor.  During the birth of my nephew, I witnessed the lack of care my sister had and feeling helpless.  Lastly, working in childcare and having parents asking me questions about newborns encouraged me to give them evidence-based answers.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST OR FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT DOULA WORK?

I enjoy getting to know and experience different family routines and cultures. It's cool to see how new routines are created.  I also love the fact that I get to collaborate with families to create their unique vision of birthing and help support them through it.

WHAT ARE YOUR SPECIALTIES OR AREAS OF PARTICULAR PASSION?

My specialties are IVF/IUI, anxiety, out-of-hospital births, hospital births, newborn care, prenatal massage, postpartum massage, biological normal infant sleep, infant brain development, infant neuroscience, and parenting styles.  I am passionate about helping parents start their parenting journey with as much support as they can so they can focus on healing, themselves, and learning about their newborn.
