TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

Hi, I’m Elizabeth Greer, but my friends call me Liz. When I introduce myself I share that I’m ’Light, Love, and a Bringer of Peace!’

I am the mom to three of the most creative, charismatic, intelligent, joyful and loving children: Victoria, Vivienne, and Arjun… As LEGO-enthusiast, we often spend a lot of time working on sets! My youngest two children, are almost 24-months apart but are often mistaken as twins due to my middle child’s short stature and complex medical needs. As an educator, medical momma, and life-long learner I have made it my mission to be a resource in the community for those who need love and support.

Hiking, Cooking/Baking and Creating art in various forms and helping others are my love languages! My greatest glimmer (sparkles for joy) are Plants! I am a Plant Momma to Many, and a Dog momma to one Puppy named Bluu!

HOW DID YOU COME TO DOULA WORK?

I was naturally the one all of my friends came to for advice for literally anything and everything. The joke was that if Liz didn’t know the answers she had a friend or would do the deep and accurate research to provide you with all the information, tools and resources to help you in your journey, whatever that maybe…

Well, those journeys became more and more personal within the communities I was connected with. I shared my personal stories about pregnancy loss and fertility challenges and medical issues as a Black Woman, then with my children as a mother. This created avenues for many people to seek me out for support specifically surrounding Maternal health.

After having such trying yet beautiful experiences bringing life into the world, a friend suggested becoming a Doula since in a way, I was already doing the work: Supporting, Advocating, Loving, Providing Companionship and Education…! Years later, here I am! DONA Internationally trained…! It gives me joy to say I am a Trained DONA Doula!

I take a natural and holistic approach to the parenthood journey! As an Momma and Educator and caregiver to those who are special needs and Medically Complex, my life’s purpose is to support those in the journey of living a fulfilling life, in peace, grace, and beauty with light and love!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST OR FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT DOULA WORK?

The ability to work with the individual or the entire family throughout their entire fertility journey through the 4th trimester. This includes family planning, processing grief from pregnancy/infant loss or understanding the role of the sibling and integrating everyone together. To be a doula is to cargive, educate, advocate, and support in the fullest way possible so that the Mother/Birthing person and their Partner feel fully equipped and empowered in their journey of raising their precious child(ren). To be able to present help, during someone’s most vulnerable moments in time, and embolden them to parent the best way they can, and have the best start possible, is why I choose this rewarding work!

WHAT ARE YOUR SPECIALTIES OR AREAS OF PARTICULAR PASSION?

My specialties of interest as a full-spectrum Doula are those Complex Needs/Neurodivergent/or Disabled Mothers and Birthing Persons. I also have a special passion for working with Highly Sensitive, Medically Complex/Special Needs Babies and families.

My goal is that in working with me, you have the companionship, support, access to the educational resources, and advocacy that you need to have the most grace-filled experience. To be seen, heard, and respected during your fertility journey is incredibly important to me. I believe it makes a great difference in the bonding experience with your child(ren) and your ability to heal - your having the proper supportive, reliable, loving environment surrounding you that you wish.

I love nature and Herbology and that is a study I have recently taken to, I am studying to be a Clinical Herbalist. Sharing information with those I would like is always possible! Birth photography is a special interest of mine as well! I love taking photos and I believe that those who want it definitely should have those special moments caught on film or digital memory!
