TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

I'm Aubrey, and I live in central Texas with my husband, our two daughters, our baby boy, and our three dogs/fur babies! I have a BA in International Studies and Masters in Education. I enjoy reading, spending time outside, and cooking.I'm a certified labor doula pursuing certification as a postpartum doula as well!

HOW DID YOU COME TO DOULA WORK?

Through my own pregnancy and birth experiences, I developed a passion for learning more about birth. I wanted to better understand why some cultures/families/communities viewed birth in such a positive way while mainstream society seems to fear it. Most importantly, I developed a passion for helping other families feel supported, empowered, and informed throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum!

WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST OR FIND MOST REWARDING ABOUT DOULA WORK?

What I love most about doula work is the privilege to walk alongside a family through such a pivotal time in their lives. Pregnancy, birth, and postpartum can feel overwhelming, scary, and lonely at times. It's an honor to come alongside families and provide them whatever support they may need in those moments.

WHAT ARE YOUR SPECIALTIES OR AREAS OF PARTICULAR PASSION?

One of the things I'm most passionate about is providing truly nonjudgemental care. Every family is different and will make choices for themselves as they decide what's best for them. Also, as a rainbow mom myself, it's an honor supporting other families after loss. Lastly, my firstborn was born with a cleft lip and palate, so I have a passion for supporting families through those unexpected diagnoses and emotional births.
